Nine floors and two outside high level spaces required lighting to support a shell and core scheme which was already installed and would remain. The client was clear that their spaces need to be different, fun, interesting and quirky. The challenge was to ensure that lighting went in but did not bring the energy effectiveness down from their Breaam gold standard rating yet still added a funky and non conventional lighting scheme to the office and interaction spaces.
No colour change, keep within the energy consumption required for the Breaam ratings and building regulations whilst providing a fun, quirky and different lighting system for a traditional uninspiring space.
Penson Architects provided the interior design to the space which really enhanced the traditional office feel and made each area unique. The lighting worked with that design to ensure all of their design worked as functional spaces for work and for the breakout areas which form a large part of Googles work spaces. The choice of luminaires were not the type normally found in an office and certainly it was the first time it Does Ltd had need to check washing instructions of a woollen product prior to proposing a luminaire to the client. The spaces are different, beautiful and quirky and the client was extremely happy with the final results.
