Street Lighting Design: Bromley Town Center

The project:

Two key streets in Bromley’s town centre are joined at one end and are main routes through the town to gateways such as the station.  This was one of a number of projects which required new lighting and landscaping to bring the environment up-to-date and provide a safe and structured image for the town and its residents.

The brief:

To work with the landscape architects to ensure the new lighting blended with their yellow broom theme which is a prolific plant in the area.  The architects based the scheme around this theme and it does Lighting Ltd tied our choice of products in with this design direction. Simplicity and functionality were elements leading the design as it developed and luminaires were bespoke to fill the brief.

The result:

Bromley council were pleased with the new spaces and how the lighting not only fulfilled the functional British Standard BS5489:2013 compliance using the bespoke luminaires and LED but also tied in with the minimal and fresh approach to the spaces designed by the landscape architects.  Challenges such as festive lighting, CCTV, advertising and traffic lights were overcome by it does Lighting Ltd to ensure the scheme had minimal street clutter and utilised the best use of equipment within the space.
