Both lighting projects involved liaison with the Highways authorities and local councils approvals. The schemes had various challenges including how to light safely over the junction bridge which spanned the M40. This was a main concern for the client and for the contractor and passive safety implications were many.
I still needed to meet British Standards and make sure the road was lit effectively but without the problem of columns being struck and then ending up on the M40 below. This was addressed with rigid columns and barriers as it was felt this was preferable to the potential causalities that could happen on the road below.
