This lighting project is one of two bespoke 5 star plus hotels in London. The Knightsbridge hotel is in a prestigous position near Hyde Park Corner and in located in a listed building. The facade of the building is staying whilst the building behind is being completely re-built.
The lighting design for the interior space needs to be warm, inviiting and create a cosy feel whilst still being practical and energy efficient. Most of the light sources chosen are LED and with the help of Photonstar even the chandeliers will use this light source for sparkle without the cost.
The visualisations shown are just part of the ground floor layout and the project design which is now completed will begin installation in late 2011.
The exterior spaces are to add more square footage to the building and to give guests somewhere to sit and enjoy the buzz of the local environment. These will have lit foliage to create a screen to the passing traffic and also low level lighting to add a more intimate feel. The facade is lit with colour change LED and will be set to white for most of the time. In times of special interest such as Christmas or holidays it can then be changed to create a subtle but enhanced vista which can attact the attention of people using the surrounding space.
The second hotel in South Buckinghamshire will follow on from this and will once again use a listed building but in a more country setting. The lighting deisgn of that will also include a spa and function room.
