Bespoke Lighting Design in Knightsbridge

KnightsbridgeThis lighting project is one of two bespoke 5 star plus hotels in London.  The Knightsbridge hotel is in a prestigous position near Hyde Park Corner and in located in a listed building. The facade of the building is staying whilst the building behind is being completely re-built.

Gatwick South Terminal

This project looked at the new refurbishment work for Gatwick South Terminal and its interior spaces and customer interfaces.  The area was designed by Grimshaw architects and I was brought in as the specialist lighting consultant by their consultants Jacobs to assist with the lighting specification.

Wyndham Grand

The Wyndham Grand Hotel is Chelsea Harbour is a prominent and well appointed hotel which has undergone a large scale refurbishment program.  Part of the refurbishment involved new lighting design and I assisted the main contractor and the consultant on the project in all aspects of the interior and exterior lighting.

Netherfield - Milton Keynes

Netherfield is a residential grid square in Milton Keynes and is part of the original development of MK and was build over 40 years ago.  The area has some social issues and suffers from a bad reputation and high crime.

Bletchley Park – Milton Keynes

This project was installed in the last couple of years and takes on the style of the other newly specified lighting for Milton Keynes.  The columns are stainless steel which is non corrosive and does not require painting or maintenance and will last for 100’s of years and can be recycled.

Basildon Town Centre regeneration

Basildon Lighting ProjectThe lighting design for Basildon required a more diverse approach as it needed to incorporate alternative solutions to Festive lighting, advertising with light, light art (as shown in the adjacent drawings depicting a day time (yellow) theme and a night time (blue) theme) all of which needed to be controlled via a DMX system along with the general lighting.

M40 Junction 2 and Milton Interchange Oxford

Both lighting projects involved liaison with the Highways authorities and local councils approvals.  The schemes had various challenges including how to light safely over the junction bridge which spanned the M40.  This was a main concern for the client and for the contractor and passive safety implications were many.

Aylesbury Hub, Buckinghamshire

This project was run by Jacobs and I was asked to oversee the lighting for the new bridge and design the lighting for the surrounding areas.  This project had challenges with railway lines, city centre issues, crime and a new footbridge which had to be lit from the handrail but not in a conventional manner.
