Sleep

Here’s how to get more sleep; the best medicine there is!

Let us help you to enjoy a better quality of sleep and as a consequence, improved health. By helping you to entrain your body clock through the use of artificial circadian lighting it does Lighting Ltd are able to assist you in your pursuit of a healthier you.

Light penetrating the eye and hitting the non visual light sensors at the back of the eye called ganglion cells is where this process begins.  All of our major organs and our main clock in the brain – the Suprachiasmatic Nucleus or SCN – are given cues by these cells as to whether its day or night. These cells work independently of the vision part of the eye and even function in blind people (unless the eye is damaged or removed) and their purpose and existence was only discovered a decade ago.

By activating these cells with the ‘right’ kind of light frequencies we are able to adjust the main clock over time and this helps to regulate sleep. Light also plays an important part in setting the body clock for other functions which need regularity, such as eating and exercise.

If you suffer with insomnia, work shifts or nights then you would more than likely benefit from a stronger sleep pattern which works on a biological level to keep you healthier. After all, the evidence suggests that those working night shifts have higher incidence of cancer, diabetes, obesity and heart disease than those who work only day shifts so any help to overcome this and improve sleep surely must be worth investigating. If you are interested in a way to treat the symptoms of sleep deprivation, then we are here to help you by applying our expertise to your problem. Call us now on 01908 560110 for more information.
